Chess is a game of the mind. It improves concentration power and keeps the mind healthy. A healthy mind results in a healthy body. Chess improves focus, visualization, pattern recognition and reduces anxiety and depression. Thus in many parts of the world chess has been introduced as a major part of daily lifestyle as it increases scientific and logical skills of an individual. It has been a vital part of our lives for the past 1500 years and will be the same for the next 1500 and many more years to come. As we all know Montfort school organized The Silver Jubilee Inter-School Chess Championship on 29th August 2019. Approximately 105 students of 10 schools from Roorkee, Bhagwanpur and Haridwar participated in this tournament. Matches were played on knockout bases for the boys and girls for eight titles in different age categories. Montfort school won seven out of eight titles and won the Overall championship trophy. Rev. Brother Albert Abraham the principal commended the players.
