February 4th, 2023 was an innovative and experimental day for all the students at Montfort School Roorkee as the Middle section organized the Science Exhibition titled ‘Discover the wonders: A Science Odyssey’ for classes 6th to 8th in the Silver Jubilee Block. The exhibition was inaugrated by the honourable Principal Rev. Brother Albert Abraham in the presence of the vice principal, Coordinators and the teaching fraternity of Montfort School Roorkee. Inspired, encouraged and motivated by the teachers and the parents, the budding scientists of the middle section displayed different models and experiments with great enthusiasm. Rev. Brother Albert Abraham encouraged and appreciated all the participants with his words of motivation.
The exhibition was open from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm and the parents were also provided an opportunity to explore it. The exhibition was divided into six main themes. The main attractions of the exhibition were projects on Sustainable development and Environmental concerns like light pollution, generating electricity from waste water and rain water harvesting. The students exhibited innovative solutions to environmental issues which created awareness amongst visitors for sustainability. Physics category included Digital lock, Motion and light detecting automatic light (MAL-DAL), Burglar alarm for theft protection, Generation of electricity by speed breakers, Water level detecting alarm. All these projects captivated the interest of the audience. In Biology category, Respiratory system, working model of human heart, Food pyramid and Balanced diet wheel sensitized the audience and gave them insights for adoption of organic and clean food habits. Drip and sprinkler irrigation methods, herbal garden, soil profile, etc highlighted the modern agricultural practices and provided ways and means for ecological conservation. Astronomy corner was the main attraction of the event which included projects on satellite communication, GSLV,PSLV, Day and night model, Space debris, Solar system,Solar and lunar eclipse, etc. Science toys corner attracted the attention of the visitors wherein the students demonstrated working of Periscope and Kaliedoscope, Spinning carnival, Balloon powered car and Cotton candy machine. This corner added the fun element to the exhibition and highlighted the need to initiate scientific thinking and its applications. The event provided a platform for scientific explorations and innovations for the future scientists. The visitors gave their valuable feedback and appreciated the efforts of the students.
