ENGLISH DECLAMATION COMPETITION

An Inter Section ‘English Declamation Competition’ for class VIII was organized on November 27, 2019 on the topics “Fall down six times, Stand up seven” and “Time travels in future”. Madam Jyoti Tiwari and Madam Lizy James were the judges. All the contestants participated enthusiastically. The co-coordinator Madam Lizy James appreciated the efforts put in by the students and exhorted the students to take part in various competitions in large numbers, speaking more on the topics she motivated the students to improve their communication skills which will enable them to gain confidence to overcome stage fright.

SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION 2019

The year-long silver jubilee celebrations of Montfort School, Roorkee, came to an end with a grand cultural extravaganza put up by the students on the evening of November 21, 2019 (Thursday). The programme commenced at 4:00 p.m. with a procession-march led by the school band escorting the Chief Guest and other dignitaries towards their seats. A special band from Kerala rendered a captivating performance followed by a prayer song seeking the blessings of God and the National Anthem, respectively. Messages of felicitation marking the occasion received from the Pope, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand were read out to the audience. The gathering paid homage to Late Rev. Bro. Thomas and Late Rev. Bro. Cyriac Francis whose unique contribution towards the growth of the school cannot be overlooked. Children's Day-2019

‘CHILDHOOD IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL OF ALL LIFE’S SEASONS’ Montfort School –Roorkee celebrated Nov 14th 2019, Children’s Day, which marks the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru with great enthusiasm and zeal. The celebration begun with the teachers performing a graceful prayer dance followed by a series of other entertainment events like jokes, songs and a few zestful dance performances on thumping bollywood hit numbers which the kids enjoyed , exciting plethora of events came to an end with the Principal Bro. Albert Abraham wishing all the students a happy Children’s Day and blessed and encouraged them to work deligently and enjoy their childhood to the optimum. It was a fun filled day for every Monfortians which would always be cherished as a fond memory.

Making My Garden

"Save Nature and Save Future" Making my garden activity was organised on 23rd October 2019 for the students of classes LKG and UKG. The students were asked to bring potted plants and they were taught, how to take of the plants. The students also presented well about the plants used for the activity. This activity was organised in order to make the students aware of the value and importance of plants and trees.

Diwali Celebration 2019-20

The celebration of Diwali the festival of lights came alive at Montfort School, Roorkee on October 23-25, 2019 when students presented a special assembly. The children, dressed up as various characters from the Ramayana, replicated Lord Rama’s reunion and return to Ayodhya after vanquishing Ravana in a battle. They also demonstrated how good always conquers the evil and why and how Diwali is celebrated across the country. Students also depicted the ill-effects of bursting fire crackers through a small act. The program included smashing dance performances by the students. Our Principal Rev. Bro. Albert Abraham appreciated the program and sensitised the students about ill-effects of fire crackers. He stressed on clean, peaceful and eco-friendly Diwali.

Class XII Picnic 2019-2020

Class XII Picnic 2019-2020 The school had organised a day long picnic for the students of class XII on October 18, 2019 (Friday) to the Mal Devta farm resort. The buses departed at 5.45 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Church, Roorkee, and reached the destination at 9.15 a.m. with 90 students escorted by Brother K. C. James, Sr. Coordinator Mrs. Santina Fernandez and the class teachers. On arriving at the Mal Devta farm resort, a sumptuous breakfast was served to all which was followed by some adventure sports like monkey crawling on a rope over a creek, rope walking net crossing etc. A 2-km long trek was also organised for the students and the concerned staff which was immensely enjoyed by all and sundry. A very delicious and lavish lunch was served which was followed by the dance to the peppy tunes played by the DJ on the dance floor set ablaze by students. The buses departed for return from the Mal Devta farm resort with some refreshment at 4.45 p.m.and arrived at the Sacred Heart Church.

Silver Jubilee Inter School Chess Competition

Chess is a game of the mind. It improves concentration power and keeps the mind healthy. A healthy mind results in a healthy body. Chess improves focus, visualization, pattern recognition and reduces anxiety and depression. Thus in many parts of the world chess has been introduced as a major part of daily lifestyle as it increases scientific and logical skills of an individual. It has been a vital part of our lives for the past 1500 years and will be the same for the next 1500 and many more years to come. As we all know Montfort school organized The Silver Jubilee Inter-School Chess Championship on 29th August 2019. Approximately 105 students of 10 schools from Roorkee, Bhagwanpur and Haridwar participated in this tournament. Matches were played on knockout bases for the boys and girls for eight titles in different age categories. Montfort school won seven out of eight titles and won the Overall championship trophy. Rev. Brother Albert Abraham the principal commended the players.

Silver Jubilee Inter-school Badminton Tournament

Montfort school has been successfully organizing inter-school badminton tournaments since 2011. This has been the 9th inter school silver jubilee badminton tournament. In the year 2011 approx 75 players took part, but in 2019 more than 150 selected players have participated from 09 schools. This tournament was organized in 4 age categories U-12, U-14, U-16, and U-19 for boys. This year we could organize it successfully with the cooperation of all officials and supporting staff. Overall champion trophy was won by Montfort school Roorkee Bro. Principal Albert Abraham distributed prizes to the winners and runners up. He encouraged all the participants to continue playing sports in true sportsmanship spirit.
